As part of the Promoting and Protecting Indigenous Arts web project, the Indigenous Futures Research Centre (IFRC) and the Indigenous artist-run centre daphne hosted a conversation and open beading session in the style of daphne beads: perler/parler on Indigenous beading and cultural appropriation and appreciation of Indigenous arts. Moderated by IFRC Project Manager Linda Grussani, this conversation with members of daphne aimed at bringing together Indigenous scholars and art practitioners to discuss pressing issues around questions surrounding the promotion and protection of Indigenous arts.
daphne beads: perler/parler is a weekly virtual beading night held in the great tradition of gathering around a kitchen table to bead and talk with other daphne members.
In-person guests were invited to bring their beading projects and join the table for discussion.
